Classes in Christian education are available for all age groups on a regular basis.  Members are encouraged to attend one or more of these classes to strengthen and expand their knowledge of God’s Word

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School is offered from 9:15-10:15 a.m. every Sunday from the second Sunday in September to the last Sunday of May.  Classes begin with the Nursery Class for three year olds and continue to the Senior High class.

The schedule varies from week to week, but common activities include:

Hearing a Bible story.

The story may be read, told with videos, puppets or in a variety of other ways, but the Good News of Jesus Christ will be communicated.

Crafts

A Bible-oriented craft or activity is something special for younger students.  Older students complete weekly lessons and may have a special project or two during the year

Singing

Making a joyful noise to the Lord involves the Nursery through Second Grade classes. Sunday School students may share special music with the congregation on occasion.  All students participate in the Children’s Christmas service in December which involves telling the Christmas story through scripture, narration, and song

Memorizing

We want the  younger children to remember the Word of God through the memorization of some Bible verses. .Memorization of The Lord’s Prayer, the Ten Commandments, and The Apostles’ Creed are added as the children grow older.

AFTER SCHOOL

The After School Program is available from mid-September through mid-May for students in grades 1-6.  Members and friends are encouraged to attend.  Transportation is provided from the school to the church.  The schedule varies from week to week, but common activities include the choice of::

MIDWEEK CLASSES

Midweek classes are available for grades 1-6 at 5:00-6:00 p.m. during the school year  following the after school program.  A structured curriculum from Concordia Publishing House is followed.  On occasion, classes take field trips to nursing homes to share their faith with some of our members who live there

YOUTH CONFIRMATION CLASSES

Children of the congregation in grades 7-9 attend these classes  which lead to Confirmation.  Grades 7 and 8 are taught by lay persons and students in grade 9 are taught by the pastor.  Classes begin in early September and continue until mid-May.  They meet each Wednesday from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

VACATION BIBLE CLASS

Children from age 3 through the 6th grade participate in a program of Bible lessons, singing, crafts, skits, snacks, and recreation.  Evening sessions are held during the first week of June from 6:30-8:30 p.m.  On Thursday evening during VBS week there is a program followed by cake and ice cream.  Sunday School children are encouraged to invite their friends, churched and non-churched.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY

The Adult Bible Study group meets each Sunday during the school year at 9:15-10:15 a.m. and is lay led.

 During the summer, the pastor leads the study on Wednesday evenings beginning at 7:30pm.

A Women’s Bible Study group meets on Friday mornings at 9:30 a.m. during the school year and is lay led.

ADULT INFORMATION CLASS

These classes are designed for adults interested in becoming members of St. Paul’s or those wishing to refresh their knowledge of Christian doctrine.  The church office (225-1847) can be contacted for more information, including schedules for the classes.

YOUTH PROGRAMS

YOUTH FOR CHRIST (YFC)

The YFC Group is designed for students in grades seven through twelve.  During the school year there are meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 8:00-9:00 p.m. in the youth room.  Meeting times are flexible during the summer month.  Other activities, service projects, and fund-raisers are held year around.  A youth newsletter is mailed to each member monthly and information of youth activities is also available on the youth pages of this WEB site.

FELLOWSHIP

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is to assist each woman of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the word.  The LWML meets on the second Thursday of the month during September-June.

St. Paul’s Women’s Circles

Publicity Circle is to assist with assembling the monthly newsletter, “The Voice of the Saints”, help with the distribution of the LWML quarterlies, and to send items of interest to the news media. Publicity Circle meets on the first Thursday of the month at 9:30 AM at the church

Good Cheer Circle is to carry out the directive to show an interest in those who may be in need of special love and concern, such as, the sick, the shut-ins, the aged, and students away from home.  Good Cheer Circle meets on the first Thursday of the month at 9:30 AM in members homes.

Christian Literature Circle orders and sells wholesome Christian literature, such as Bibles, hymn books, prayer books, greeting cards, novelties, etc. This circle meets on the first Monday of the month at 7:00 PM at the church.

Senior Potluck Dinner

A potluck dinner is held on the second Tuesday of the month at 12:00 noon during the school year.  Members are invited to join in a time of good food, games, and fellowship.

St. Paul’s Quilters

Over 20 women from ages 45-95 meet on the second, third, and fourth Thursdays at 9:00am at the church.  They make lap robes and quilts.  The quilts are donated to the Orphan Grain Train along with other clothing that is collected.

CHURCH BOARDS

St. Paul’s church is comprised of a president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and six boards.  Each board has a director and lay members.

Board of Elders:  Assist the pastor with spiritual life of the congregation through supervision of public worship including proper administration of the Sacraments, church discipline, and church publications; caring for personal and family needs;

Board of Evangelism:  Provides leadership of our congregation in outreach to the community.  This includes assisting the Elders in ministering to the shut-in, homebound and member visitation;  church promotion within the community; assist in training the laity to bring the unchurched to pastoral instruction classes;  provide a means for meeting the needs of the less fortunate and with special needs; and guiding the congregation with financial support to Synod and District synodical programs.

Board of Personnel:  Recommend personnel policies, job descriptions and salary ranges of church staff.  Perform staff evaluations and insure smooth integration and operation of staff.

Board of Trustees:  Administer and maintain church property; regulate use of church facilities;    and plan and execute building upkeep and expansion.

Board of Education and Youth:  Concerned for Christian education of children, youth, and adults; develop educational programs with specific objectives; enlist and train lay teachers; maintain, improve, and cultivate use of church library; develop meaningful ways youth can contribute to the church. This board also provides direction and planning of the Lighthouse Pre-School.

Board of Stewardship:  Provide Biblical Stewardship principals and give members the opportunity to make a commitment for sharing their treasures; review annual budget requests and make recommendations to the congregation; oversee all church finances; supervise raising of all funds; conduct a Time and Talents Survey; and prepare lists of members for appointment to various boards and present to Church Council.

CHURCH LIBRARY

Our library is located near the hallway leading into our gymnasium.

Books: Our library contains over 2,000 books, publications, and articles for children, teens, and adults chosen to help the reader to respond to Christian beliefs and grow in faith and understanding of one another.  The library has numerous publications on our church strengths, beliefs, and programs.

Videos and DVD’s:  The library has numerous children and teen movies and stories to help the viewer see and better understand Christian beliefs. The library also has recently released movies.

Check-Out Process:  Children books, DVD’s, and VHS videos can be checked out for one week.  Adult and teen books and periodicals can be checked out for four weeks.

ADULT SERVICES

The Adult Services Program functions to be an advocate for health service planning and care-giving assistance to older adults of the congregation.  Services include:

- Home and health assessment

- Promote health and care-giving planning with family members

- In-home safety evaluations

- Visitation with home-bound and shut-ins

- Assist with coordinating of health care services, government programs, care-giving facilities

- Resource for health care programs and community-based assistance

TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Sunday Morning Pickup Schedule: St. Paul’s has a new 13 passenger van that is used to transport members to our late  Sunday morning service.  Pickup begins at 9:15 am and transports members back to their homes at the conclusion of the Sunday service which ends at 11:30 am.

Lent and Advent Pickup Schedule:  During these seasons, the van will pickup and deliver members for noon service which begins at 12:15pm.  Pickup begins at 11:15am and returns members to their homes after the Lent and Advent luncheon which follow the service.  Members will be transported to their residence by 1:30pm.
